Some restomods seek to celebrate the true essence of a classic with modern capabilities, others look to completely rewrite the car’s rulebook, bringing crazy performance and agility beyond belief. Then there are those that simply look to do an icon justice by creating a machine that is as enjoyable to drive as it is to look at. Zero Labs Automotive technically falls into all of those categories, but with their reinvented Ford Broncos, it is all about showcasing style, technology and charm tied together in one seriously cool off-roader.

Available in both its traditional steel body, or an ultra-lightweight carbon shell, these reinvented Broncos are as rugged as their combustion-engined siblings, but have been lovingly remastered and now boast an all-electric powertrain package. Featuring dual-motor all-wheel drive, independent front and rear suspension, Zero Labs’ Broncos are designed to be low maintenance and environment-friendly while offering superior luxury and refinement.

Let’s take the sleek silver-bodied Bronco as our first example, a car that Zero Labs holds extremely close to their hearts. This 1972 Bronco has become one of the most famous classic electric vehicles in the world and holds the unique distinction of being both the world’s first carbon fibre Bronco, and the first all-electric Bronco, earning a spot in numerous global press features in recent years.

It’s easy to see why so many fell in love with this Bronco. Everywhere you look, be it on the outside or in the incredibly plush interior, the care and attention to detail that has been bestowed onto this classic is clear to see. The body was fully rebuilt, with much of its steel components swapped for carbon fibre and new factory steel, with uncut rear carbon fibre fenders and lightweight accents designed to retain the classic look, but enhance it for modern day usability.

Inside is an excellent showcase for Zero Labs’ talent for taking the core necessities and reimagining them into polished works of art. This Bronco boasts a moulded plywood centre console, with the same finish throughout the dashboard and door cards, as well as nickel-plated CNC metalwork and controls, creating a cabin space that feels effortlessly luxurious, yet extremely durable.

Next we have the silver Bronco’s sibling, finished in Classic Ocean Blue over a white leather interior, and showing just 350 miles since being reengineered by their talented team. One thing that needs to be made clear, if it wasn’t already evident from these images, is that Zero Labs’ work can’t be labeled as simple conversion, instead these cars are fully-redesigned and rebuilt from the ground up.

This vibrant example retains its originality somewhat, and has been fully restored and meticulously remastered, with the re-aligned body panels and flush exterior hinges, adding to the iconic design, but ensuring its character remains unchanged. The car also has functional front vents for enhanced performance, as well as a full custom hard top for added durability, and LED lighting for enhanced visibility and energy efficiency.

Whether you opt for the brightly-finished reimagined icon, or instead choose the ultra-stylish carbon example, both offer everything you love about iconic rides like this, minus the hassle that often accompanies classic car ownership. Future Labs’ Broncos are built to be enjoyed to their absolute fullest right now, and well into the future!
