Paula Badosa discusses the shift she realized she had to make.

Paula Badosa reveals change she figured out she needed to make

Paula Badosareveals she is starting to make certain changes and adjustments to her game after realizing the competition has gotten a bit too familiar with her game. Badosa, who reached a career-high ranking of No 2 last year, is now ranked at No 42 in the world and she hasn’t won any titles since winning Sydney in the opening week of the 2022 season.

“I see that the players are starting to get to know me, so we have decided to change some things in my game and make tactical adjustments. It is not easy, in the middle of a game, to change the position of return or hit a parallel in a difficult situation, but I’m on that path so I have to continue on that path,” Badosa said, per Punto de Break.

Badosa has had some notable wins in 2023 but she needs more consistency in order to return to winning titles. In Madrid, Badosa defeated world No 6 Cori Gauff but then suffered a 6-4 6-4 defeat to Maria Sakkari in the round-of-16.

Going forward, Badosa hopes to remain competitive against the best and clinch more strong wins. “The main thing for me is to continue competing regularly, improving little by little and moving forward in the process. In the long term, I want to return to where I was because I believe that I belong to the group of the best in the world.

I don’t know if it will be in two months or in one year, but right now I have to recover many things because I’m coming off a difficult year. I need to be stable on a mental level and not be as self-destructive as in other stages of my career.

On a mental level I am feeling good, I have promised myself same that, no matter how bad I feel, I have to fight until the end,” Badosa explained.
