The Mahomes’ won yet more silverware over the weekend
PATRICK Mahomes cheered on a very different kind of football on Saturday.
Following their 24-23 loss to the Detroit Lions in their second NFL preseason game of the summer, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback headed to CPKC Stadium to cheer on the National Womens Soccer League team the Kansas City Current.

Patrick and his wife Brittany are part owners in the franchise, which currently sits second in the NWSL table.
They cheered on their team from an executive suite as the Current took on Atlético de Madrid Femenino in The Women’s Cup championship game.
Joining them in the stands at the world’s first stadium built exclusively for a professional women’s team were Patrick’s teammates Travis Kelce, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Isiah Pacheco, Creed Humphrey, and Justin Watson.
In one of the snaps released by the team, the Chiefs stars beamed for the camera, with Patrick giving it a thumbs up while Kelce gave a peace sign.
Decked out in Current baseball caps, t-shirts, and scarves, they cheered on the Mahomes’ team as they got the better of their Spanish rivals 1-0 thanks to a 12th-minute goal from Brazilian international Debinha.
This marked the first-ever trophy win in the Current’s history.
“I hope this is just the beginning,” Current head coach Vlatko Andonovski said, as per the team.
“We want to do so much more.
“We want to do more, obviously, for the organization, we want to do a lot more for the community because the support they give us in every game that we play is incredible.”
With the summer break now at an end, the Current will return to action in the NWSL on August 25 when they take on the Washington Spirit.

A win for Kansas City and a loss for the Orlando Pride could lift the Current to the top of the league depending on goal difference.
As things stand, Kansas City is just three points behind Orlando after 16 matches.
This marks a huge step forward for the still-young franchise, having finished 10th, 5th, and 11th in their first three seasons.
Meanwhile, Patrick is soon set to begin his pursuit of a third consecutive Super Bowl title – something that has never previously been done.
The Chiefs’ season will kick off on September 5 when they host the Baltimore Ravens.
But it won’t just be a memorable season for Patrick on the field.
He and Brittany are also expecting their third 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥, with the happy couple having announced the news on Instagram.
In a later video, joined by their 1-year-old son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon III and 3-year-old daughter Sterling Skye, they revealed they were expecting another girl, in an adorable game of Tic Tac Toe.
Unfortunately, Brittany recently called this pregnancy “the hardest on me,” adding that she’s been struggling with feeling sick, exhaustion, as well as her skin.
