Aston Martin revealed the DBS 770 Ultimate, a special edition of the DBS with increased power, tweaked chassis, and unique styling touches. The grand tourer marking the end of the line for the current generation DBS will be produced in 499 units – 300 Coupes and 199 Volantes – with all of them already spoken for.

The swan song of the series is instantly recognizable as a DBS since the visual upgrades are subtle. Highlights include the more pronounced splitter at the front, the new bonnet with a deep horse-shoe vent and gills, the twill carbon fiber accents, and the redesigned diffuser at the back.

Even more special are the unique 21-inch alloy wheels, finished in Satin Silver, Satin Black, or Satin Black with Diamond Turned as in the pictured example. They are shod in Pirelli P Zero high-performance rubber measuring 265/35R21 at the front and 305/30R21 at the rear.

The model comes standard with Sports Plus Seats upholstered in quilt semi-aniline leather and Alcantara (Performance Seats are optional), carbon fiber gearshift paddles, and a unique trim combination with colorful inserts. Owners also had the option to further personalize their vehicle through the Q by Aston Martin division.

The DBS 770 Ultimate comes fitted with an upgraded version of the twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 engine producing 760 hp (566 kW / 770 PS) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. This represents an increase of 45 hp (33 kW / 45 PS) over the regular DBS Superleggera / Volante, made possible thanks to modified air and ignition pathways, alongside a 7% increase in the maximum turbo boost pressure. Power is transmitted to the rear axle through a re-calibrated 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox with the help of a mechanical limited-slip differential.

The company suggests the special edition is “the most powerful production Aston Martin ever, and the fastest and most powerful DBS to date” although the advertised top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph) is identical to the regular DBS. The power output of the DBS 770 Ultimate is 10 hp (7 kW / 10 PS) more than the One-77 but still sits below the combined 1,160 hp (865 kW / 1,176 PS) from the electrified powertrain of the Valkyrie flagship.

Aston Martin engineers improved the steering response and feedback thanks to a new solid-mounted steering column. They also modified the suspension, with new calibration for the dampers and new software for the Adaptive Damping System (ADS), alongside a stronger front cross member and a thicker rear undertray. The carbon ceramic brakes with 410 mm (16 inches) discs at the front and 360 mm (14.2 inches) at the back are carried over from the regular DBS.

Production of the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate will start in the first quarter of 2023, with the first deliveries expected in the third quarter of the year. The automaker didn’t reveal pricing since order books are already closed. Given the extra power and the limited availability, the special edition will definitely be more pricey than the DBS Superleggera which starts from around $330,000.
